June 27, 2024 — Ninety minutes of nearly ninety year-olds saying nothing new.
The first presidential debate of 2024 took place this week, bringing brand new rules and and brand new criticisms.
The debate is unusually early this election cycle. Officially, this gives the U.S. people more time to learn about the candidates’ positions and opinions. But unofficially, this change insists to the public that there are only two viable candidates — a reality many of us denied in hopes of a third-party angel descending at the last moment.
Yet here we are, and no such angel has come to save us.
The only third-party competitor on the map, Robert Kennedy Jr., was left out of the CNN debate. But he didn’t let this stop him from joining remotely. RKJ set up a website called “TheRealDebate.com” with a video criticizing his opponents as anti-democratic for excluding his voice from the conversation.
Robert then launched his own livestream via “rumble” where he listened to the CNN debate, paused the feed, and then added his own response at the end.
