On a global scale, Biden leans pretty far to the right. Bernie is the closest to a genuine socialist in this country, and the party made it clear that he'd never get the nomination.

Pretty much every major US politician falls towards the right. The Dems perceived as "far left" are just trying to pull the party out of the center.
